The fourth Friday of the month is Fresh Ground Coffee House night with live music, artwork, free beverages and snacks. I wasn’t sure about going this past Friday because I heard the band playing was very loud and hard rock is not my favorite style of music. I decided to go anyway, at least for a little while.
I took my laptop with me so I could review and edit some of my photos from the trip to Ricketts Glen State Park. Before I was able to put my computer down, I was greeted by 3-year-old Mimi. She is the same one who likes to read Kangaroo Stew.
“Let’s jump”, she said. So I took hold of her hands and she squatted down and jumped as high as she could as I pulled up on her hands. We did this many times. Then she pointed to some of the artwork on the walls. There were drawings of people from pop culture or tv shows. I was not able to identify all of the characters. Then it was back to jumping. Mimi led me to the front of the room, right in front of the speakers! She would dance a little bit, get me to join her then relax on the chair. She reminds me of my niece – every time the music plays, the body moves. She just can’t help herself.
At the end of the song, Mimi would clap and shout just like others in the crowd. Our dancing didn’t last too long. Sadly, bedtime comes early when you’re three.
I spent the rest of the evening chatting with friends and meeting a new friend, Ruth. I never did get around to opening my laptop. Maybe another time or another place.
Cindy, great meeting you at the Coffeehouse. It’s hard making new friends. We’re both nature lovers so that’s a great start. B/c you mentioned Ricketts Glen, my BF Scott and I will take a trip there in August, during his week’s vacation. You have an absolutely awesome blog and I will be checking in frequently!
What a privilege it is when little people invite us in to see the world as they do! I could see the joy of the Lord all over your beautiful face. 🙂
