It’s been a mild winter here – not too cold and very little snow. Considering we had several inches of snow in October, it looked like I was going to get plenty of shoveling exercise this year! I always find interesting the number of people who live in the northern states and complain about the cold and snow. It’s almost like they forget this is the same type weather we had last year.

I like the snow, especially when it’s just enough to cover the ground. We had one of those storms, if you can call it that, Wednesday. Unlike the rain sounding pitter-pat on the roof and windows, the snow falls silently. Gently. Piece by piece a blanket of pure white is knit together. It’s peaceful. Grab a cup of hot chocolate or coffee and sit by the window and just watch.

“The moon on the crest of the new fallen snow gave a luster of midday to objects below.” ~ Clement Clarke Moore, “A Visit From St. Nicholas”

When it’s done, everything looks clean, fresh, new. You can almost hear the laughter of children running out to sled, build a snowman or make snow angels!
